Two core Art History courses are offered through the art department. These courses (AR 364, and AR 365) are survey-based and cover art produced from ancient times up to the late 20th century. Additional non-core art history courses include Women Artists in Art History (AR367) and Performance Art (AR 368). In all art history coursework, students are exposed to a wide variety of imagery which embody numerous cross-cultural contexts. In each course, students are required to research relevant art historical topics in the form of written papers or through intensive studio projects. With the completion of all coursework, students recognize the universal development of art production in varying time and cultural contexts as well as understand the value of studying art as it relates to their own studio development.
