Bachelor of Arts in Art

Degree Requirements:  

1. Completion of the general studies requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree.

2. Completion of the following required courses:

  • Ar 105: Intro to Art Criticism (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 206, 207: Design (6 credit hours)
  • Ar 208, 209: Drawing (6 credit hours)
  • Ar 364, 365, 366: History of Art (9 credit hours)
  • Ar 498: Professional Seminar (3 credit hours)

3. Completion of six semester hours from the following:

  • Ar 220: Painting (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 260: Printmaking (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 280: Photography (3 credit hours)

4. Completion of six hours from the following:

  • Ar 240: Fiber (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 250: Sculpture (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 270: Ceramics (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 290: Metalsmithing (3 credit hours)

5. Completion of three hours from the following:

  • Ar 302: Graphic Communications (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 306: Design Problems (3 credit hours)
  • Ar 310: Graphic Design I (3 credit hours)

6. Completion of 12 hours in an area of emphasis.


    7. Additional hours in the major shall be selected in consultation with the dept. head

    8. Completion of departmental assessment procedures.


      9. Students may be excused from basic studio courses based on a portfolio of their work.
