Photography is taught at the beginning, intermediate, advanced and graduate levels. Students can choose options in both digital and traditional black and white darkroom photography.
Intermediate levels focus on developing ability in concept development, technique and critiquing photographs in a variety of contexts. Advanced and graduate students initiate their own projects and work towards developing a personal approach to photography. Emphasis is on developing students' ability to express themselves and communicate concepts effectively.
The photography area comprises a large black and white darkroom housing 15 enlargers capable of printing from negatives up to 4x5 inches. A smaller black and white darkroom, equipped with 4 enlargers, is used by graduate students and for special processes.
Digital photography classes are held in an up-to-date computer lab. Current software and a high quality ink-jet printers allow for printing of high quality photographs. Students also have access to a well-equipped lighting studio.
