Senior Writing Portfolio

The senior portfolio is a compilation of works, four or five, that you choose to submit in order to help the faculty of English and Communications judge how successful our teaching is. While we want you to include your best works from a variety of courses and levels (210 through 400 level courses), we want to emphasize that you are not being graded for this --- we are grading ourselves. The links below include 1) a survey which you can print out and send to our departmental administrative assistant (we want to keep your responses anonymous); 2) a letter that will give you further information about the portfolio; and 3) a model cover letter that may help you as you draft your cover letter.

The senior portfolio is a requirement for graduation of everyone enrolled in our English and Communications programs: liberal arts, creative writing, secondary education, or mass communications. You must hand or send it in to your adviser at the beginning of your final semester (i.e., mid- to late January if you will graduate in the spring). Your term paper from the senior seminar (for those of you in the liberal arts and creative writing emphases) will be added to the portfolio at a later date, and that may be one of the items you include. Please read more below about this important requirement.
