Master of Arts
Reading Teacher Endorsement
The two year Master of Arts with Reading Teacher endorsement program focuses on language and literacy theory, research and practice.
The emphasis is designed to develop competencies in:
- language
- reading
- writing
- early literacy
- children's literature
- adult and family literacy
- multicultural education
- applied linguistics
This course of study leads to a State of Colorado K-12 Reading Endorsement.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Current Colorado Professional Teachers License
Academic Core (required for MA) 3 credits each
- ED 549 Educating Diverse Learners
- ED 550 Curriculum and Assessment
- ED 571 Educational Research
Cognate Requirements
- ED 521 Foundations of Literacy: 3 credits
- ED 522 Diagnosis & Assessment of Literacy: 3 credits
- ED 523 Literacy Strategies for Diverse Learners: 3 credits
- ED 524 Literacy in Content Areas: 3 credits
- ED 525 Practitioner Research: 3 credits
- ED 526 Readers Writers Workshop: 1 credit
Internship (4 credits)
- ED 527 Internship in Literacy
