Master of Arts
Special Education-Generalist Endorsement
The two year Master of Arts with Special Education-Generalist endorsement equips teachers with the skills and information needed to:
- teach in a general education classroom or self-contained special education classroom
- work in a related field in special education
- teach in partnership in an inclusive education setting
The goal of this program is effectively teaching students with disabilities. This course of study leads to a State of Colorado Special Education - Generalist, ages 5-21, endorsement.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Current Colorado Professional Teachers License
Academic Core (required for MA) 3 credits each
- ED 549 Educating Diverse Learners
- ED 550 Curriculum and Assessment
- ED 571 Educational Research
Cognate Requirements
- SPED 526 Behavior Management: 2 credits
- SPED 529 Issues and Characteristics of Special Needs Students: 3 credits
- SPED 530 Methods of Instruction for Special Needs Students: 3 credits
- SPED 532 Counseling, Consultation, and Collaboration: 3 credits
- SPED 534 Theories of Learning: 3 credits
- SPED 540 Educational Assessment: 3 credits
- SPED 541 Educational Assessment Lab: 1 credit
Internships
- SPED 555 Internship (On Site): 6 credits
- SPED 558 Internship (Alternative Site): 2 credits
