Campus construction update (03-24-09)
Schematic design of the new Residences at Rex and Coronado Hall renovations has begun. This entails flushing out adjacencies of spatial considerations, shapes and sizes of rooms. and massing modeling. All of this helps in determining the final building design and how it relates to a site specific location. Sun shading studies look at the massing models and assist in understanding how other areas around the building are affected by the sun or lack there of and if the building's shadows leave an unintended consequence. This is part of micro master planning.
In addition, the Campus Renovation & Planning committee is also looking at overall master planning. As one functional area is displaced, its future must be considered; spaces are also being identified for other growth opportunities in the near and/or distant future.
