Adams State College International Student Checklist
Below is a checklist to guide you through the steps to being a student at Adams State College. Please contact One Stop Student Services if you need assistance with any student business matters. Please check in with the PDSO for F-1 Visa questions.
ADMISSIONS:
- Complete an international application for admission:

Apply - Request all transcripts be sent directly from your school(s) to the Office of Admissions. International students are required to have their transcripts translated into English AND evaluated by an authorized agency to determine what U.S. equivalencies exist for grades, credit hours and accreditation. All results should be formally sent to ASC from one of the three services. Payment for this service is the responsibility of the international student.

Only college or university-level work certified to have U.S. accreditation equivalency by one of the three named organizations above will be accepted directly in transfer. Please submit documentation to:

- Submit TOEFL scores. Adams State College requires a 550 on the paper-based, a 213 on the computer-based, or a 79 on the internet-based exam.
- Provide verification of financial support. International students must provide financial certification showing the availabilities of $22,200 US or the equivalent in another currency. Affidavit of Support (I-134), recent bank statements, and/or scholarship awards are acceptable.
SCHOLARSHIPS/WORK -STUDY:
- International students with a 3.0 GPA or higher will receive the Experience Colorado Scholarship, valued at $4,200 per year and renewable for all four years at Adams State College. International students may also apply for private scholarships offered through the Adams State College Foundation and/or other private agencies.
- Work-study-International students on an F-1 student VISA are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week in an on-campus job. However, keep in mind that many work-study positions are only available for 10-12 hours per week. Work-study positions are not guaranteed and students must apply for individual positions.
UPON ADMISSION:
- *Contact your academic advisor to review your degree plan and to obtain an advising PIN for registration.
- Access your one-time-use token number for student account creation. What is a token number? A token is a number provided by Adams State College upon registration. This number is a one time use number that allows you to get your password. To get your password using your token, go to www.adams.edu/getit and enter your information including your token number and student ID number.
- Obtain your ASC username, password, and email address: www.adams.edu/getit (requires your student ID number and token). Contact One Stop Student Services if you do not have a token number.
- Take the Accuplacer test. Test during orientation week or call 719-587-8189 to schedule a test time. Sample Accuplacer Test
- *Register for classes: www.adams.edu/onestop (click on "Add / Drop Classes")
- *Register for full course of study to meet F-1 visa requirements and maintain status.
- Apply for housing and pay the required housing deposit: http://housing.adams.edu.
- Submit proof of immunization to Student Affairs (new students under 24 years old).
- *Check your ASC email account often for important messages from ASC!
- *Check any student account holds: www.adams.edu/onestop (click on "View Holds")
- Check in to housing during check-in periods upon arrival to campus.
- Obtain your student ID card in the Student Union Building.
- **Purchase a parking permit/decal for on-campus parking: bring your vehicle registration to the One Stop.
- *View and/or pay your account balance or make payment arrangements the first week of class to avoid late fees: www.adams.edu/onestop or contact a cashier at the One Stop. - *Keep your address current: www.adams.edu/onestop
- Attend orientation: http://orientation.adams.edu
- *Check in with Primary Designated School Official to register with SEVIS.
- *Attend class, study, and participate in student life!
