Local Food presentation and Rescue Party performance during ASC EARTH Week (04-07-09)

Adams State EARTH Week continues with the San Luis Valley Local Food Coalition showing the documentary film, "Heart and Soil", about the food we eat and where it grows, at noon Wednesday, April 15, in Adams State College Porter Hall room 130. The local band, Rescue Party, will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in Carson Auditorium. The events are free and open to the public.

"Heart and Soil" was voted one of the top ten favorite films in Santa Fe. "The film takes us on a journey into the rich landscape and lives of farmers in the southwest and into the bustling energy of farmer's markets and farm to school programs. The farmers are an inspiration for all of us to dig in more, grow our own, or support those who do for our personal and planetary health."

The mission of the SLVLFC is to develop local networks, educate the community, and promote programs and policies that create an economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable local food system for the San Luis Valley region.
