Students show appreciation for dedicated faculty and staff
As Cecil Fell accepted his award at the Seventh Annual Faculty and Staff Awards Banquet, he said: "It doesn't get any better than this." For the Adams State College faculty and staff nominated by students for the awards, Fell's statement expressed their sentiments. Associated Students and Faculty Senate (AS&F) hosted the event, on April 13 at the Blue Foxx Restaurant.
Awards were presented to: Dr. Linda Reid, professor of business, Excellence in Student Centered Instruction; Dr. Teri McCartney, professor of counselor education, Excellence in Academic Advisement; Margaret Doell, Art Department chair, Excellence in Student Engagement; Oneyda Maestas, program coordinator for Student Engagement and Success, Excellence in Extra-Curricular Advisement; Dr. James Bedard, assistant professor of biology; Excellence in Research and Publications; Cecil Fell, athletics equipment manager, Outstanding Professional Staff Member; and Carol McCann, counselor education administrative assistant, Outstanding Classified Staff Member.
All presenters expressed their appreciation towards faculty and staff, describing them as engaging, approachable, caring, understanding, and encouraging.
The Associated Students and Faculty Senate (AS&F) Academic Committee gathered student nominations for exceptional faculty and staff, chose the award recipients, and organized the awards banquet. Member of the committee included Christina Chavez, chair, Jeni Carter, program assistant for AS&F government, Nichole Cordova, Pualani Jeffries, and Matt Adams, Adams State Admissions Counselor.
