Hot Pursuits opening reception is Aug. 24 at ASC Snook Gallery (08-09-07)
The Adams State College Cloyde Snook Gallery's first show of the academic year is Hot Pursuits: 8 Southwest Colorado Artists. The exhibit will open with a reception from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 in the Art Building. The show will continue through Sept. 14. An artist lecture from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. in room 227 of the Art Building will precede the opening.
Gerry Riggs is Hot Pursuits curator. He said: "Hot Pursuits is an interesting blend of floor and wall-hung works. The idea was to fill Cloyde Snook Gallery with work that compliments its very contemporary and quite unconventional layout. I wanted to highlight the gallery itself as a sculptural work designed specifically to exhibit contemporary art."
The show includes D. Michael Coffee, ceramist and printmaker; Kate Petley, sculptor, painter, and mixed media artist; Shaun Martin, 3-D construction/assemblage; Ron Fundingsland, intaglio printmaker, Mary Ellen Long, papermaker, book artist, and sculptor; Monica Goldsmith, painter; Shan Wells, mixed media sculptor, and graphic artist, and Riggs, digitally manipulated prints.
A student exhibit, Summer Painting, will be in the Hatfield Gallery during the same time frame.
The galleries hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information contact the Art Department at 719-587-7823.
