Adams State construction update

(08-17-2010)

Adams State College Residence Life has the latest news on campus construction for the new and updated residences. According to Bruce Del Tondo, director of auxiliary services, alternate housing for students affected by the construction has been arranged and those students received personal phone calls informing them of their temporary living arrangements.

Del Tondo said by the first of September everyone in temporary housing should be moved into their campus residences. Shuttle services to off-campus hotels have been arranged and those living off campus will not be charged until they are located on campus. "We trying to compensate students to the best of our ability," Del Tondo said.

Construction is in the final stage but most new and renovated rooms and apartments will not be available on opening day. Del Tondo said the contractors are working cooperatively with one another and the campus but there are factors which have delayed construction, including materials arriving on time.

Del Tondo said students affected by the construction have remained positive. "I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding."

Because new student orientation begins August 19, please limit traffic on Monterey Street to only those checking into housing.
