Adams State is hosting honor band and honor choir this weekend
The Top of the Nation Honor Band and Honor Choir festival takes place at Adams State College from Thursday, February 17, through Saturday, February 19. More than 250 students from over 30 schools throughout Colorado will come together and participate in the festival. Both the Honor Band and Honor Choir concerts will be Saturday, February 19. The band performs in Richardson Hall at 12 p.m., and the choir will perform at 2 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church.
Anthony Maiello, director of instrumental studies at George Mason University, will be the guest conductor for the wind ensemble, and Dr. Jamie VanValkenburg, Adams State director of band, will conduct the concert band. Dr. Beth Wagstrom, Adams State choir director, will be conducting the mixed choir, and Dr. Christine Keitges, Adams State professor of music, will be conducting the women's choir.
In addition to the honor band and choir performances, there will be performances by the Adams State choral ensembles. 68 West will perform at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in Leon Memorial Concert Hall and the ASC Concert and Chamber choirs will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, in Sacred Heart Church, located in Alamosa. The honor choir will join the ASC choirs to end this program. All events are free and open to the public.
