The Adams State College Cloyde Snook Gallery is currently exhibiting an installation, "Feed", by artist Suzanne Faris. The exhibit's opening reception is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, and an artist lecture by Faris precedes the reception at 4 p.m. in room 227 of the Art Building.

Faris received her Master of Fine Art degree in sculpture from the University of Colorado. She has exhibited nationally and internationally. She is currently a professor at Colorado State University.

Excerpts from her artist statement includes, "...Through my artwork, I am interested in exploring the 'identity of place' as affected by an event, and interpreted through a memory. Memory allows for emphasis. It allows us to throw out the traditional linear timeline, or at least try to ignore it, and reorder our lives based on those events, emotions, and moments in time which have affected us most deeply."

...Consideration is given to the tangible and intangible aspects of six different factors: environment, memory, space, privacy, territoriality, and comfort..."

A fiber exhibition by Adams State students will be shown in the Hatfield Gallery during the same time frame. For more information about the exhibit in the Cloyde Snook Gallery call the Adams State Art Department at 719-587-7823.
