Adams State production, "Rabbit Hole" back for one performance (01-16-09)

The Adams State College Theatre production, "Rabbit Hole", was recently honored by the Rocky Mountain Theatre Festival (RMTF). A significant part of the recognition is performing the piece before the festival attendees in February. To fund-raise money and help offset the cost of travel for the students, the theatre department is performing "Rabbit Hole" at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, on the Main Stage.

Director Paul Newman said he welcomes the opportunity for actors and crew to perform the popular play for local audiences one last time. Tickets are $5, minimum, and go on sale January 26. Call the Theatre Box Office at 719-587-TIXX, for reservations.

The 2006 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by David Lindsay-Abaire, "Rabbit Hole" was well-received by audiences during the run in October 2008. The piece was reviewed by David Wreford in the Valley Courier, "...Seldom have I experienced the raw power and emotion that I experienced while watching Rabbit Hole. A gripping, compelling drama, it frequently moved the entire audience to tears. Amazingly, since it is also a heartwarming, occasionally funny play, it elicited hearty laughter from the crowd as well..."

RMTF is a five-state regional theater festival. A critic attended a production of "Rabbit Hole" early in October and recommended the play.

This is the second year in a row an Adams State production has been selected. Last year, Newman's production, "Good", was chosen.

"It is a high honor," Newman said, "and a great opportunity to show-off our program and recruit new students."
