The District History Fair is Saturday, January 31 (01-19-09)
2008 History Fair
The Department of History, Government and Philosophy at Adams State College will host the District History Fair, part of the National History Day Competition, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 in the Student Union Building.
"History Fair permits students to construct their own arguments about the past and, in this silly age of testing, to explore and construct learning about topics that interest them," said Dr. Ed Crowther, Chair of the History, Government and Philosophy Department.
Crowther said he expects about 300 students from San Luis Valley, Lake City, and Gunnison Middle and High Schools to participate in the fair.
This year's theme is "The Individual in History: Actions and Legacies." The students will compete in four categories: media, performance, papers, and projects. Winners will proceed to the State History Fair at Colorado University Boulder on May 2.
