Experience Costa Rica with Adams State College (01-15-09)

Join Adams State for two exciting weeks and experience the natural and cultural history of Costa Rica.

Explore rainforests, active volcanoes, and tropical beaches and learn about Costa Rica's tremendous biodiversity. Days will be spent observing some of the most colorful and exotic plants and animals on earth, and, in the evenings, participants will enjoy Costa Rica's culture with host families.

The course will explore the structure, function, and dynamics of tropical forests. Participants will see how evolutionary patterns influence the biological diversity of tropical forests, and Costa Rica's ongoing efforts to conserve its natural heritage.

The trip will involve moderate to strenuous hiking, so participants should be in good physical condition. Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Monday, Feb. 9, is the deadline for the initial deposit of $1000.

The trip is planned for June 11 through June 24, 2009. Estimated trip cost is $2550. Estimated cost with 3 hours of course credit is $3025. For more information, contact Dr. Tim Armstrong, professor of biology, at 719-587-7211 or taarmstr@adams.edu.
