The GFWC Woman's Citizenship Club of Alamosa raised $2000 for an Adams State College nursing scholarship with a fashion show and dinner on April 23. The theme of the evening "Hats Off - A Celebration of Women" included table decorations featuring the vintage hat collection of Luther Bean Museum.

The club is a member of the Colorado Federation of Women's Clubs and General Federation of Women's Clubs, an international volunteer organization of women dedicated to improving their communities through service projects.

The GFWC Woman's Citizenship Club Scholarship will be awarded to a nursing student at Adams State who meets the requirements including being a non-traditional student who is a resident of the San Luis Valley and who has been accepted into the Nursing Program.

According to Mary Russell, president of the club, the goal was to raise $2000. The club members worked closely with the Adams State College Foundation to establish the scholarship.

Bessie Konishi organized the fashion show and said it was an opportunity to see the latest in women's fashions. Several club members enjoyed modeling the clothing from CAbi, Carol Anderson by invitation; Gray Goose Fabrics, and Treasure Alley.

The club received donations from businesses, individuals and organizations for door prize which were given away during the evening.
