Wall, Smith & Bateman Scholarship Recipients
Wall, Smith, Bateman, and Associates Inc. awarded accounting scholarships to the following Adams State College students, (pictured left to right) Michael McDonald '07, Colene Cordero '06, Joshua McDaniel '06, Joni Wigger '06, and Craig Colvin '06. Not pictured are Athena Easter, Heidi Richardson, Tyler Surat and Lydia Wiethoff.
Eldo Wall and Neil Smith, the firm's original partners, began the scholarship program for ASC in 1982. Since that time many students have received aid for their academic goals. The partnership between the college and the firm extends into employment opportunities for alumni.
"We are impressed with the quality of both the accounting program and the students," Larry A. Pochardt, WSB Firm Administrator, said. "Wall, Smith, Bateman & Associates attribute a large measure of its success to the ASC graduates who comprise the majority of our staff."
Adams State College senior Colvin is working towards a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in accounting.
"This award will help me obtain my degree by helping fund my education," Colvin said. "After graduation my goals include receiving my CPA license and working for a CPA firm."
Dr. Rafael Weston, chair School of Business, said the WSB scholarships provide a tremendous service to the students.
"Wall, Smith, Bateman has, for many years, been one of the most consistent supporters of the School of Business," Weston said. "An entire generation of accounting students owes their continuing education in part to the generosity of the partners. It is greatly appreciated."
