ASC announces street closures for construction project
Construction work on Adams State College's Residences at Rex will necessitate street closures over the next six and one-half weeks, according to Erik van de Boogaard, Adams State associate vice president for facilities planning, design & construction. Construction crews will be tying the new campus building into city water, storm, and sewer systems.
Stadium Drive will be closed to traffic between First St. & El Rio Dr. from Monday, Oct. 12, through Tuesday, Nov. 24. During this period, Stadium Dr. traffic will be detoured to Murphy Dr. and Monterey Ave.
The intersection of First St. and Stadium Dr. will be closed from Friday, Nov. 6, through Monday, Nov. 9. Westbound traffic on First St. east of the intersection will be detoured north on Monterey to El Rio; while eastbound traffic west of the intersection will be detoured south to Edgemont and Hwy. 160.
The college broke ground July 9 for the Residences at Rex, a 16,250 square-foot building that will combine 16 four-bedroom student apartments with community facilities at Rex Stadium. This is the first new student residence hall to be built at Adams State in more than 40 years. Included in the $22 million project are renovation of one wing of Coronado residence hall and construction of a new parking lot west of Neilsen Library on First St.
Questions about the street closure may be directed to the Adams State Police Department, 587-7901.
