ASC Luther Bean Museum participates in Smithsonian Museum Day
The Adams State College Luther Bean Museum will participate in the fourth annual Museum Day, presented by "Smithsonian" magazine on Saturday, Sept. 26. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free and the museum is located on the second floor of Richardson Hall.
"Inclusion in Smithsonian magazine's Museum Day is such a wonderful opportunity to bring national attention to all that Adams State and the San Luis Valley has to offer to visitors," said Kat Olance, director.
Included in the museum's permanent collection is artwork by Steven Quiller, watercolors; Bill Moyers, bronzes; Kay Malouff, sculpture; Marie Martinez, ceramics; Eppie Archuleta, weaving; Woody Crumbo, silkscreens, and a collection of Santos and Retablos. The museum is currently featuring a display of memorabilia of Dr. Ira Richardson, a Masonic ceremonial sword originally owned by Major Lafayette Head, Colorado's first lieutenant governor, and an 1840's Chinese ivory chess set.
