Video will highlight new face of poverty
The Line, a groundbreaking documentary chronicling the new face of poverty in America, will premiere nationwide on October 2. A free local screening will be held that evening at 6 p.m. in Adams State University McDaniel Hall room 101. Dr. John Taylor, professor of theatre and director of Nickel and Dimed, will moderate a discussion following the 40-minute film.
The Line documents stories of real people across the country living at or below the poverty line. More than campaign statistics, these are people with goals, children and they work hard.
Explore how these real-life stories can change the narrative of poverty commonly portrayed in the media. Be part of thinking about what this can mean for the future of our country.
Sponsors include Adams State Sociology Department, Adams State Theatre Department, Anabaptist Fellowship of Alamosa, Catholic Ministry at Adams State, First United Methodist Church of Alamosa, Mennonite Voluntary Service, and Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Alamosa.
