Rex Activity Center Facility Policies
In an effort to provide a safe and healthy environment for people to enjoy recreational activities, persons using the Rex Activity Center or participating in sponsored programs are expected to adhere to the rules and regulations of Adams State University and of the facility. The policies listed below are a sampling of the primary rules that apply to the use of the facility. The facility is restricted to students who are enrolled in six or more credit hours per semester and fee-paying faculty and staff members of AS&F. A valid ASU ID is required to use the Rex Activity Center (IDs must be presented to the front desk attendant upon entering the building).
Memberships
Alumni memberships are available for $32 per month, $192 for six months, or $384 for 12 months. Members may purchase a $5 day pass for guests; however, members must accompany their guests at all times. Former faculty and staff members who were employed by the college for a minimum of five years are eligible to purchase a Rex membership at the same rates as those paid by alumni.
Children
Children under the age of five are not allowed in the facility. Children ages 5-17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Attire
Shirts and non-marking shoes must be worn at all times. Sport bras or any other top that allows direct contact between skin and equipment surfaces is not allowed in activity areas.
Personal Items
Personal items should not be left unattended. The Rex Activity Center is not responsible or liable for lost or stolen items. Bags are not permitted on the second level of the building and should be stored in a secured locker.
Food & Drink
The consumption of food is restricted to the lobby area. Drinks may be consumed throughout the facility provided they are in non-glass containers with lids.
Basketball Court
Dunking, hanging, or pulling on the basketball rims is not allowed. Anyone ignoring this policy will be asked to leave the building. Guests in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the Rex for a specific time determined appropriate by the Coordinator of Recreational Facilities or Rex Center Staff.
Climbing Wall
Only climbers certified by the Rex Activity Center staff are allowed to use the climbing wall.
Racquetball Courts
Goggles must be worn at all times when playing racquetball or handball.
Free Weight & Cardiovascular Areas
Anyone using free weights and/or cardiovascular equipment is expected to wipe off the equipment after each use. Disinfectant spray bottles and towels are available for such purposes. *Please control your weights when exercising. Dropping or slamming plates or dumbbells on the floor is not permitted.
Spitting & Snotting
Spitting and snotting are expressly prohibited.
General Behavior
Inappropriate language, physical contact (shoving and fighting), and behavior will not be tolerated in the Rex Activity Center. Anyone whose conduct adversely affects the rights of others, or puts others at risk of harm, will be asked to leave the building immediately. Depending on the circumstances, administrative or disciplinary action may result from such behavior.
