Living & Learning at Adams State

Be a part of ASUs Learning Communities (LCs)! Students in LCs are mentored by returning Adams State students who have successfully completed at least one year on campus. The LC Mentors are trained to help students with questions or concerns that arise in the first year of college. LC students will live in a residence hall, along with the LC trained Resident Assistants. We offer four options for our LCs:

Performing & Visual Arts Community

This community is a great fit for those who are interested music, writing, and reading! Are you interested in themes including (but not limited to): Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, & Star Wars, Literature & Composition, Faith & Spirit? Is your major Theatre, Art, or Music? Live with others who have a shared interest in performing & visual arts.

Liberal Arts & Education Community

Are you interested in living with others who are interested in academic excellence, language arts, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education and teaching? This community is a great fit for our future educators. Is your major Education? Live with others who have a shared interest in liberal arts & education.

Sports & Adventure Community

Are you a person who thrives in outdoor adventure, holistic wellness, and/ sports? This community is a great fit for those who enjoy playing and/or watching sports, getting outside, and overall healthy living. Is your major Human Performance & Physical Education? Live with others who have a shared interest in sports & adventure.

Emerging Student Leader Community

This community is the place for students who are interested in Service & Citizenship, Networking & Business, and overall student leadership! If you are interested in beginning your college experience with others who are interested in leadership this is the community for you. Are you majoring in Business? Live among other students who are interested in leadership!

Let’s decide together how you fit into our learning communities. We offer 3 forms of learning communities:

  • Grizzly Learning Communities (GLCs) are for students with specific declared majors and three classes together. 
  • Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are for students with broad academic interests and two classes together. 
  • Living Communities (LCs) are for students who want to live in a hall with a specific theme.
