Adams State University invites the community to participate in “SLV Standing Strong with Orlando,” in response to Sunday’s mass shooting of LGBTQ+ individuals. The event will be held tonight, Monday, June 13, from 8-9 p.m. in Alamosa’s Centennial Park, Main St. & State. With 50 fatalities, this is the deadliest mass shooting in the United States and the nation’s worst terror attack since 9/11.
Adams State University joins the nation in grieving these losses and decrying hate crimes and terrorism. Adams State leads this community event in keeping with its commitment to be the university community of choice for diverse, historically underserved groups, and all who value quality education and inclusivity.
Participants are encouraged to wear rainbow colors to the event, which will include an opportunity for individuals to make personal statements. In addition, there will be a call to commit to establishing the San Luis Valley as a Safe Zone.
