Reid receives recognition for outstanding teaching

Dr. Linda Reid’s,professor of business, open door policy and positive energy in the classroom contributed to her receiving the Mountain-Plains Business Education Association (M-PBEA) 2016 Collegiate Teacher of the Year.

The M-PBEA Leadership Award recognizes individuals in the region who have made significant contributions to business education. Recipients of this award have provided countless hours of service toward business education in the M-PBEA region, which includes the following nine US states and two provinces in Canada: Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, South Dakota, and Wyoming; and Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Reid has served as a sponsor and co-sponsor of many Adams State clubs and is a member of many community and Adams State committees. Her commitment in, and out, of the classroom earned her the reputation as being a professor dedicated to students. "I am proud to be teaching at a Hispanic Serving Institution with many first generation students. It is a privilege to teach these students." She received emeritus professor of business this spring.

Reid earned a D.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., she received a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University; and two Bachelor of Science degrees one from Colorado State University and, in 1996, one from Adams State.

According to the NBEA website, mpbea.org, the M-PBEA is an affiliate of the National Business Education Association (NBEA), the nation’s largest professional organization devoted exclusively to serving individuals and groups engaged in instruction, administration, research, and dissemination of information for and about business.
