Adams State University and the City of Alamosa invite community members to celebrate the reopening of Richardson Avenue with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 8, at 2 p.m. The event will be held outdoors at the intersection of Richardson Ave. and Third St.
"We are very happy to partner with the City of Alamosa on this important campus improvement. Adams State values this cooperative relationship, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration," said Adams State President Beverlee J. McClure.
Once again a two-way street, Richardson Ave. was reopened to traffic on September 3. Alamosa Public Works Director Pat Steenburg said, "The university has been requesting for several years that Richardson be made two-way like it was years ago. We polled the residents and the owner of the shopping center, and they were in favor of the change." He noted 13 new parking spaces were added on the street, bringing the total to 63. Existing parking spaces and sidewalks were reconstructed, as well.
