Adams State University and the Colorado High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) agreed contractually to keep Alamosa as the host for the annual All-State Games through 2022.
The All-State games feature high school athletes and coaches from across the state of Colorado who are CHSCA members. The week-long event features eight sports and the presentation of the prestigious Steinmark Award.
"We are proud to bring the Colorado All-State Games back to Adams State University for another five years," said ASU Athletic Director Larry Mortensen. "We are honored and grateful that CHSCA has given us this opportunity. The games have allowed us to showcase our campus, the community, and the entire San Luis Valley. The Athletic Department and CHSCA board has had a great relationship, and we will endeavor to continue to make this a great event for the participants and fans."
Adams State first hosted the CHSCA All-State games in 2011. Upon the expiration of the current contract, Adams State will have hosted the games for 12 consecutive years. This past June, Adams State and CHSCA hosted the 60th annual All-State games.
"The Colorado High School Coaches Association and its Board of Directors and member coaches are excited and pleased to extend our partnership with Adams State University as host site of the annual CHSCA All-State Games. For many years we have conducted the Games on their campus in Alamosa, and each year has seen not only the All-State Games grow, but our relationship with the staff and administration at Adams State become more positive for both entities. Many thanks are due to Athletic Director Larry Mortensen and the staff at Adams State University, and we look forward to a long and beneficial relationship with our Grizzly partners," said CHSCA Executive Director John Burke.
"We are very excited to again partner with Adams State to host the CHSCA All State Games for the next five years," said Amy Estes, All-State Games Director. "Their excellent facilities and staff and supportive community ensure we are able to put on a top notch event to honor the senior athletes and coaches of Colorado, and we will continue to work to make it even better year after year."
