The Adams State University Chamber and Concert Choirs will perform, “World War I Requiem: Remembrance and Reconciliation,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov., 2, in Richardson Hall Auditorium. The performance will recognize the 100th anniversary of the signing of the armistice ending World War I. It is also an evening to honor all veterans; ticket proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
The program will include selections from Mark Hayes Requiem, Ralph Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem, Paul Aitken’s setting of John McCrae’s famous poem, “In Flanders Fields,” and readings by John Taylor, Ph.D., Adams State professor of theatre, from the war poetry written by Wilfred Owen, a British soldier who died one week before the signing of the armistice.
