Plachy Hall and Chili’s Grill are the places to be on Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon at Plachy Hall, Alamosa High School will host Centauri High School in girls and boys basketball doubleheader. Then Saturday evening, Adams State will play Colorado Christian University in women’s and men’s basketball games.
The Alamosa Chili’s Grill is jumping into the fun through a Give Back special. Eat at Chili’s before or after any of the basketball games and Chili’s will donate 10 percent of your ticket to Adams State Athletics.
Adams State University will also award two $500 scholarships, one during the girls game and one during the boys game, as part of the Saturday fun. Students attending the high school games will have an opportunity to put their name into a drawing for the Adams State scholarships.
“We’re excited to take Maroon basketball into Plachy Hall on Saturday,” said AHS Principal Andy Lavier. “Playing Centauri on Adams State’s floor, inside Plachy Hall, will be a great experience for our student-athletes.”
Tipoff for Alamosa and Centauri girls is 2 p.m.; the boys’ game follows at 3:30 p.m.
Adams State women then hit the floor against Colorado Christian at 5:30 p.m.; the men’s game begins at 7:30 p.m.
“If you love basketball, and who in the San Luis Valley doesn’t, then you will want to be at Plachy Hall on Saturday,” said Adams State Athletic Director Larry Mortensen. “We’re also grateful to Chili’s for supporting Adams State athletics through its Give Back promotion.”
Mortensen approached both high schools about playing their home series at Plachy Hall. “We want all the schools in the San Luis Valley to see Adams State as their home too,” he said.
Ticket prices are: $10 for adults and $5 for students. A ticket is good for all four games.
Ticket prices are waived for students who already have school-issued passes, and for Adams State Grizzly Club members and fans with Colorado High School Activity Association passes.
