The Adams State University Counseling and Career Services and the Lost and Found Comedy Troupe teamed up to provide a comedic look at psychology throughout the centuries, and to tap into stereotypes of mental health. They present So How Does That Make You Feel?: The Evolution of Counseling at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Adams State Theatre Building. The night of laughter begins with free pizza at 5:30 p.m.
Several historical theorists and psychologists will be depicted in humorous tones, and more factual information will be provided by the counseling interns. After the comedy show, there will be a question and answer period, during which the counselors will get to know the audience, and directly address the stigma and stereotypes surrounding counseling and therapy.
According to Christina Harrel, online plus academic advisor for counselor education, the aim for the show includes reducing the stigma around mental health and counseling; familiarizing the student body and the Alamosa community with the faces of the ASU Counseling Center, and "to have a great and rowdy time."
