Stephen Quiller, former Adams State University professor of art and world-renowned artist residing in Creede, Colo., selects an artwork for placement in the Luther Bean Museum south gallery. A collection of Quiller’s watercolors and prints was donated by Charles and Nancy Wallick in 1999. This collection along with a couple of works donated by Quiller will be displayed in the museum.
Since fall 2013, the Luther Bean Museum has been closed due to renovations, as part of the Richardson Hall remodel. The historical features of the museum, formerly Adams State’s library, have been retained, while improvements have focused on mechanical systems and refurbishing collections storage and galleries.
Members of the museum advisory committee and volunteers from Nielsen Library have been working to re-install the collection and displays. According to Linda Relyea, museum coordinator, the museum should be ready to reopen in the fall. "We anticipate having the first floor available for public visits by September."
