Although law enforcement uses sophisticated technology to aid in crime prevention and detection, the latest addition to the Adams State University Police Department is more low-tech: a bicycle.
The Adams State Adventure Program repaired and assembled the bike, which will now be used in campus patrols. "Cops on bikes are much more approachable than in cars," said Adams State Chief of Police Paul Grohowski. "This fosters positive contacts with our students and staff, particularly given amount of pedestrian and foot traffic on our campus. This will further strengthen the great relationships within our campus community."
He noted all ASU police officers will undergo a police bike training in the spring.
