The Adams State University Human Performance and Physical Education Department (HPPE) will host Dr. Christopher Bell, associate professor at Colorado State University Department of Health and Exercise Science. Bell will speak about Sprint Interval Training: A healthy need for speed at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, in McDaniel Hall 101. The event is free and open to the public.
Sprint interval training is now widely recognized as a time efficient alternative to traditional endurance exercise training. Although many of the resulting physiological benefits are similar between the training regimens, the weekly time commitment to sprint training is typically measured in minutes and not hours. From a scientific perspective, sprint interval training also represents a very powerful intervention, capable of evoking many physiological adaptations in a short period of time. During this seminar the health and sport performance benefits of sprint interval training will be broadly reviewed, and the utility of sprint interval training in physiology research will be discussed.
