There is still time to register for the free Adams State University Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Saturdays. Web Design by Dr. Comfort Cover, assistant professor of management information systems; and Astounding Approximations by Dr. Meredith Anderson, assistant professor of mathematics, still have spaces available.
On October 31, Web Design, students will explore how to create interesting and customized web pages using freely available, web-based software. Students will learn some details about networking of computers and how information travels from one place to another on the Internet. The workshop is for students in grades 6 through 9.
How many grains of sand will fit in the Grand Canyon? How fast does hair grow in miles per hour? What is infinity and are there different sizes of infinity? On November 7, Astonishing Approximations, participants will learn about numbers from the very small to the very large by approximating answers to such interesting questions. The workshop is for students in grades 6 through 8.
Sessions are scheduled from 9 a.m. until noon.
Registration is required. Once registered, participants will receive the location of session and any other pertinent information. Only parent/guardian authorized registrations will be accepted. No cost to participants.
