Adams State University’s Dr. Tim Armstrong, professor of biology, will lead a trip to Peru in the summer of 2016. The trip will include visits to Incan ruins, including Machu Picchu and Manu National Park in the Peruvian Amazon, which has some of the world’s highest species diversity.
"We will explore Peru’s tremendous natural history ranging from the high Andes to the Amazon," Armstrong said.
The trip will be around the first two weeks in July with an approximate cost of $5000, which includes flights, ground transportation, lodging, and meals.
The course will include upper division course credit in biology. Participants should be in good physical condition for hiking at high altitudes.
"These trips are great because students who are taking the trip for college credit study different aspects of the natural history of the region and present their research during the trip, so everyone gets to learn," Armstrong said.
