There is still time to register for
the free Adams State University Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics (STEM) Saturday, "Astounding Approximations," by Dr. Meredith
Anderson, assistant professor of mathematics.
The Astonishing Approximations STEM Saturday
session will be a hands-on discussion of huge numbers and infinity. Students
will do fun activities where they will figure out how to win a guessing
contest, mathematical tricks to try to get more allowance money from parents,
and ways to gain perspective as to how large is the universe.
The workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. until noon on
Saturday, Nov. 7, and is for students in grades 6 through 8.
Registration is required. Once registered, participants will
receive the location of session and any other pertinent information. Only
parent/guardian authorized registrations will be accepted. No cost to
participants.
