The Adams State University Food Pantry strives to decrease food insecurity on the Adams State University campus. The pantry is located in the Student Union Building in the CoRE Center next to the hair salon and mail room. This Food Pantry is 100% FREE to all students, faculty, and staff. This includes online and graduate students.
The pantry is run on a point system. Every item in the pantry is labeled with a number representing the “price” of that item. Although everything in the pantry is free, this system helps limit how much is being taken at each visit. This pantry works hand and hand with the Alamosa Food Bank and other food pantries around the San Luis Valley.
This amazing resource allows students to receive free food to lower the stresses of food insecurity and focus on their education. The Food Pantry is one of the only pantries in the SLV that has a full refrigerator and freezer. This allows the pantry to store both perishable and nonperishable foods.
Often times, fresh fruits and vegetables can be found in the refrigerator due to its ability to store these types of food for a longer period of time. Items in the refrigerator are NOT labeled with points meaning they won’t affect the final total allowing for students to take even more free food!
Donations are accepted at all times. The pantry accepts food and personal hygiene products such as body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste.
