Adams State University has received a $45,000 grant from the Daniels Fund to provide Boundless Opportunity Scholarships to non-traditional students.
The Boundless Opportunity Scholarship (BOS) is designed to benefit motivated nontraditional students who recognize the power of education to create a better life for themselves and their families.
Adams State Director of Student Financial Aid Heidi Markey said the funding will be used to assist non-traditional students who have taken a different path to pursue their college education. Many non-traditional students postponed college to enlist in the military or immediately joined the workforce after high school. Others have had their college careers interrupted, either by financial difficulties or family obligations.
“This support from the Daniels Fund will help this population of students with their persistence to graduation so they may lead productive and purposeful lives,” Markey said.
These need-based scholarships are available to specific student populations including adults entering or returning to college, GED recipients, and veterans entering or returning to college.
