Adams State University continues to keep pace with the times and growing industries. The Board of Trustees approved a Bachelor of Arts in public health at their Friday meeting. This new degree will help fill the gap in communities in need of an educated work-force in the public health sector. The specific focus of the public health degree will prepare professionals to work in rural and underserved communities with high diversity.
Friday was the last meeting for Trustees Donna Griego, Class of 2003 and 2012, and Randy Wright, Class of 1984. Neither will seek reappointment as their terms expire in December 2021.
Trustee Griego was appointed in 2017 and she served as vice chair of the BOT for two years. “I am proud of Adams State and its service to the region.”
Trustee Wright was first appointed in 2014 and reappointed in 2017. After nearly ten years serving his alma mater as a trustee, Wright is pleased with the progress of the University and believes it is well situated for the future.
The entire BOT and President Lovell expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to Trustees Griego and Wright and their outstanding service to Adams State. Jennifer Mueller and Mark Martinez were recently appointed by Governor Jared Polis and will begin their terms in 2022.
The Board of Trustees voted to confirm the metrics used in the annual review of the president to include metrics on fiscal stewardship, campus morale, and student enrollment and success.
