Once again the annual Adams State University Gives Day Talent Show and Telethon has secured a $100,000 match to sweeten the pot for all donors. This means all donations the evening of February 15 to Adams State will automatically triple.
This year’s donors are Duane, Class of 1982, and Lorey, Class of 1980, Bussey, and the San Luis Valley Federal Bank, represented by CEO Mark Bechaver, Class of 1991.
The Busseys and SLV Federal Bank have been long-time supporters of Adams State and this most recent donation will enhance opportunities for student success. “Lorey and I are happy to partner with San Luis Valley Federal Bank, my employer for the last 39 years, to provide matching funds for the upcoming ASU Gives Day,” Duane Bussey said.
The Busseys were inspired by the $100,000 match for the 2021 Adams State Gives Day, made by Paul Morley, Class of 1966. “His contribution inspired us to give more for the 2021 Gives Day, and we’re hopeful our support, combined with the bank’s, will motivate others to give during this year’s event,” Duane Bussey added.
Bechaver also understands the significance of a matching gift. “When the Busseys stepped up to offer this gift, the San Luis Valley Federal Bank doubled the match to equal $100,000.”
The Busseys and Bechaver appreciate their alma mater for preparing them for their careers and, as community members, recognize the many positive aspects of a hometown university. “We are grateful for the fine education ASU provided Lorey and I, and living in Alamosa we know how important Adams State is to the entire San Luis Valley community,” Duane Bussey said. “Events like this are so helpful in ensuring Adams State continues to prosper and serve the outstanding students attending today.”
All donations during Adams State Gives Day will be tripled thanks to the $100,000 match. “I can’t think of a better incentive for sharing your financial resources with Adams State,” Bechaver said. “You would have to look high and low to find a better return on your investment. Not just having every dollar donated automatically tripled, but the impact of relieving the financial burden for current and future students ripples out for generations.”
Adams State Gives Day begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15. This year, participants may join the event live in Richardson Hall Auditorium, or view from the comfort of their home at adams.edu/live. Masks are required in all Adams State indoor spaces.
Students will staff a live telephone bank to accept pledges made during the talent show. Viewers can call in to make a gift or a pledge to 1-844-GIVE-ASU or 844-448-3278. All donations will be tripled thanks to the $100,000 match by the Busseys and San Luis Valley Federal Bank.
The fast-paced evening of fun and celebration will feature a range of live music and special recognition of the 2021 Adams State Women’s Cross Country Division II National Champions will round out the on-stage, live event.
