Kara Gaffney Pettit was appointed Adams State Director of Admissions to oversee undergraduate recruitment and admissions marketing. Pettit was previously the associate director of admissions at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi where she also served as an admissions counselor. Pettit earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in humanities from Bob Jones University.
Additionally, the admissions team added Jarad Sanchez, Shania Maestas and Maddie Stouder.
Sanchez served as interim admissions counselor since December before moving into a full-time role last month. Sanchez earned a bachelor’s degree in English/mass communication from Adams State in 2018. He is responsible for student recruitment in areas in Colorado and the western states.
Maestas earned both a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from Adams State, in 2019 and 2022, respectively. She most recently served as an adviser and recruiter for the Adams State RISE program, a collaboration between Adams State and the 14 high schools in the San Luis Valley. Maestas will recruit prospective students from the Valley.
Stouder most recently served as a middle school and high school English teacher in the South Conejos School District. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary English and English Liberal Arts with a minor in Spanish from Adams State in 2021. Stouder will focus on student recruitment in the greater Denver area.
