In support of the newly founded Adams State University mechanical engineering program, the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Community Relationship Manager, Jeff Owsley, Adams State Class of 1986, presents a $100,000 check to Matt Nehring, Ph.D., director of the mechanical engineering program. Also present were Erin Minks, representing U.S. Senator Michael Bennet and Antonio Huerta, representing U.S. Senator John W. Hickenlooper.
CHFA’s Building the Future Scholarship benefits students majoring in the Colorado State University/Adams State University mechanical engineering program. CHFA designated $100,000 to scholarships over the next 10 years.
Adams State partnered with Colorado State University to establish the mechanical engineering bachelor’s degree. Students have the opportunity to earn the CSU degree, delivered entirely on the Adams State campus. Adams State provides all lower-division coursework for the first two years of the program and CSU provides all upper-division coursework for the last two years by CSU faculty who are located in Alamosa.
