Next Steps After FAFSA
Once you have submitted your FAFSA, it will be sent electronically to the Financial Aid Office from the Department of Education in 3-5 business days. The loan processor will match your FAFSA to your student account and determine your financial aid eligibility.
The FAFSA application is open each year from October 1* (the year prior to starting fall classes) through June 30 (of the academic year). Adams State encourages students to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible once it opens.

*NOTE: The 2024-2025 FAFSA is being restructured under the FAFSA Simplification Act. The Department of Education has not specified a release date.

Offer Processing
Student Offers are available online through the One Stop Student Portal. Please log on to your student account, then:
- Select Student Services and Financial Aid
- Select Financial Aid
- Select My Overall Status
- Select appropriate aid year
- Click on Awarded in blue link
- Select Award Offer
- Accept or decline your offers (may modify loan amounts to a lesser amount, if desired)
Additionally, incoming students will receive one Offer Letter via email from Adams State University.
Online offers should be carefully reviewed and accepted or declined by the student. Information on financial aid types including grants, loans, and work-study/student employment is available by clicking each Offer type.
All financial aid will be deducted directly from the charges assessed on the billing statement at fee payment. Any financial aid refunds will then be processed through BankMobile.
Students who receive Title IV federal financial aid funds are subject to federal regulations which govern refunds.
Full Time Enrollment
For financial aid purposes, Undergraduate students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester and Graduate students must be enrolled in 6 credit hours to be considered full time for financial aid purposes.
