Adams State University Music Department will welcome Caleb Pickering, guest percussionist, in concert at 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, in the Leon Memorial Hall.
Caleb Pickering, a rising composer and percussionist in the world of contemporary music is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at James Madison University with renowned percussionist and composer Casey Cangelosi. He holds previous degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Texas A&M University, Commerce.
Pickering has been commissioned by Adams State University, James Madison University, and many individual interests. His works have been performed by major universities across the nation, including his 2015 marimba trio Bloodworks, which won 2nd prize in the Heartland Marimba Festival call-for-scores competition. His works have been premiered at PASIC 2016 and the 2017 Texas Music Educators Association convention. Caleb is proudly sponsored by Salyers Percussion, and is published through C. Alan Publications and Heartland Marimba Festival Publications.
