In February, Adams State University agribusiness students attended the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) conference and competed in the national Collegiate Farm Bureau discussion meet in Pittsburgh, Penn.
Jordyn Neely, Braydon Wakasugi, Pauline Luhman, Cade Kunugi, Madi Helzer, Kreg Vollmer, Jayme Malouff, and Cody Trujillo all attended conference sessions covering management techniques related to farming, ranching, and agribusinesses and participated in the various tours of agricultural operations in the surrounding area.
"These students represented ASU, the SLV, and the state of Colorado extremely well in all that they did," said Dr. Zena Buser, professor of business. "We are proud of you."
Neely competed in the national discussion meet, making it all the way through the Sweet Sixteen round. "I am very proud to be part of ASU Agribusiness’s developing legacy of producing premier agriculture thinkers and discussion meet competitors. This is the second year in a row that Colorado’s first place representative to the National Competition has been from Adams State. Dr. Buser and the agribusiness program do an excellent job preparing students for a future in any segment of the agriculture industry from going home to manage the family farm to continuing their education in an Ag-related field."
Neely said she appreciates the "many wonderful organizations who support the program." These include the Colorado Potato Administrative Committee, Conejos County Farm Bureau, Alamosa County Farm Bureau, Rio Grande County Farm Bureau, the Colorado Farm Bureau, and "all of the other individuals and local organizations who support us in our endeavors."
