Dr. Jose Moreno of California State University, Long Beach will offer a "State of the State: Undocumented Learners in a National Landscape" presentation and forum with structured questions and staff, faculty, and community audience interaction from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday, May 15, in McDaniel Hall room 101.
Moreno has been working with the Office of Title V Initiatives at Adams State University and the campus community for over a year on general education reform. He was brought to the United States as an undocumented minor and received amnesty through Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
Moreno received his B.A. from UC Irvine in Social Ecology with an emphasis on criminology and human behavior, and his master’s degree and doctorate from Harvard University in administration, planning, and social policy. Moreno is currently an associate professor Chicano & Latino Studies, and Anaheim, CA city councilman.
This forum supports ongoing campus conversations dedicated towards best practices in serving all students, including undocumented learners. This event is organized by the Office of Title V Initiatives and continues work led by the Adams State University Board of Trustees in March, and the LatinX Caucus in January.
