Adams State Police Officer Nate Rael and Chief Andrew McPhearson
The Adams State University Police Department, received naloxone opioid overdose reversal kits for each of their officers, thanks to the Colorado Attorney General’s Office as part of the Naloxone for Life initiative.
Officers will carry naloxone on their person when they respond to calls, allowing the opportunity to reverse an opioid drug overdose within minutes. Once administered, the person affected will be transported to the nearest hospital for further assessment.
Naloxone has saved hundreds of lives in Colorado this past year, offering persons with opioid addiction the opportunity to seek treatment.
San Luis Valley law officers have carried naloxone for the last two years, and have saved lives here as well. Law enforcement has embraced this program and the opportunity to serve their community as part of this statewide effort.
