Master of Arts in Leadership in Education Administration & Development (LEAD)

Students desiring to enroll in a Master’s degree program or any of the stackable certificates in Leadership in Education Administration & Development (LEAD) must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

Certificate programs available for Fall, Spring, or Summer admissions:

  • Leadership in Education Administration and Development, Higher Education Administration and Leadership, MA Online
  • Data Analytics and Decision-making in LEAD, Certificate Only Online
  • Educational Policy in LEAD, Certificate Only Online
  • Leadership in LEAD, Certificate Only Online

Licensure program available for Fall admissions:

  • Leadership in Education Administration and Development, Superintendent License, MA Online*
  • Superintendent License, Licensure Only Online*

*Candidates interested in the Superintendent Licensure certificate must hold a Colorado Principal License.


Admission Requirements

A candidate who is interested in enrolling at Adams State University to pursue a Master of Arts in Leadership in Education Administration & Development (LEAD) or stackable certificate options must:

  1. Complete the online application for admission
  2. $30 non-refundable application fee at time of application submission
  3. Submit supplemental admission documents after application submission:
    • Resume / curriculum vita, which focuses on your unique strengths and accomplishments in academics, as a volunteer, and professionally
    • Letter of intent
    • Essay (2-3 pages in length) addressing specifically how do you see yourself improving educational opportunities for Latino/a students in the future. The Essay will be used to assess writing skills for eligibility into the program.
    • Copy of Colorado Principal License: Superintendent Licensure Certificate only 
  4. Two (2) letters of recommendation. Recommenders will be sent an automatic email to complete this online letter of recommendation submission during time of application. Please have recommenders’ first names, last names, and emails at time of application.
  5. Send ALL official transcripts directly from previously attended institutions.

Transcripts from Adams State need not be requested. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted. International transcripts must be evaluated by an approved international credential evaluator. Please have all official transcripts sent directly from the institutions to:

  • Additional information may be requested by the LEAD Department Chair before an admission decision can be determined.
  • Candidates should have an undergraduate G.P.A. of 3.0, the last 30 credit hours of the degree.
  • Those candidates with a G.P.A. lower than 3.0 may be conditionally admitted until after the first semester, at which time evidence is provided as to the ability to do graduate level work and admission requirements will be reviewed again.
