The Adams State University Board of Trustees presented resolutions of gratitude to two trustees and the board attorney at its regular meeting on campus, December 16. The terms of Trustees Paul Farley and LeRoy Salazar conclude December 31; Assistant Colorado Attorney General Jessica Salazar is also completing service to the Adams State Trustees.
"These three individuals have been dedicated to the success and growth of Adams State for many years. I have appreciated their counsel and contributions, particularly through the university’s transition in leadership," said Arnold Salazar, chair of the Adams State Board of Trustees.
Farley was appointed to the board by Governor Hickenlooper four years ago. An Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office in Denver, he chaired the board’s Presidential Search Committee in 2014-15. He has also chaired the board’s Finance Committee and Policy Revisions Committee. Arnold Salazar told Farley, "You should be very proud of fact that you helped us through a very comprehensive, complex presidential search. You’ve also been incredible in working on our policy manual. I am honored to call you my friend."
LeRoy Salazar served Adams State as a trustee for a total of nine years during two periods, from June 2003 to June 2007, and again from December 2011 until the present. A resident of Manassa, Colo., he is a rancher, farmer, engineer and consultant. "LeRoy offers a very calm, gentle way of approaching things," Arnold Salazar said, telling LeRoy, "You have really shown me the value of thoughtfulness, the value of being measured, the value of being principled and of not backing off on what you believe in."
Jessica Salazar assumed her role as board attorney in April 2010. Arnold Salazar thanked her for her contributions and said, "They say that wisdom comes with age, but that is really not the case. Wisdom comes from preparation, from learning how to think, how to process, how to look at things, being able to absorb vast amounts of information."
At the meeting, the board also welcomed Colorado Assistant Attorney General Stephanie Scoville, who will take on duties as its general counsel. Governor Hickenlooper will shortly appoint two new trustees to fill the seats left by Farley and Salazar.
